Pacifists and lawyers mobilized in Tunis late last month to refuse the "delivery sale" of the People's Secretary of Libya, to the Al-Qaida dictatorship and NATO mercenaries now ruling Libya.
The anti-imperialist camp in Tunisia and the legal community mobilized after the announcement of the government's sudden decision to deliver Dr. Baghdadi Al-Mahmoudi while the Libyan regime would give Tunisia millions of dollars in `aid`.
Doctor Baghdadi Mahmoudi is the Secretary General of the General People's Congress of the Great People's Socialist Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, in other words Libya's People's Secretary.
According to his lawyers, Dr. Baghdadi is unlawfully held in Tunisia (El-Mornaguia prison west of the capital) without good reason. He was to have been released after being found not guilty of illegally entering the country when he crossed the border seeking refuge for his life, persued by Al-Qaida terrorists.
They also recalled recent public meetings on this issue and others in defense of the families of the victims of the armed bands of the TNC / NATO regime.
The `Pacifists of Tunis` had the pleasure of being with other anti-imperialist activists, on Friday, May 26th, 2012 at the Place du Gouvernement (Government Square `Qasba`) to express their total rejection and their deepest indignation at the preposterous decision to send the Libyan People's Secretary for certain imprisonment, torture and possibly even death in Libya, on the basis of false allegations by the regime which waged a one year war, killing an estimated hundred thousand people in order to come to power by force of arms.
Afterwards, the same activists went to the El-Mechtel (Golden Tulip) Hotel which was hosting a conference celebrating the work, since the so-called "'revolution'" of January 14, 2011, of the Tunisian League for the Defense of Human Rights (LTDH).
Among the guests waiting at the podium was President Marzouki himself.
A woman in the group, Mabrouka, then created a surprise by marching to the podium, where she approached the president with a placard on which the audience present could read:
"No to the delivery of Dr. Al-Baghdadi!"
Marzouki, in panic, pushed her impulsively.
Activists also came to distribute a Letter of the Libyan exiles in Tunisia. In it, they implore the Government not to deliver the People's Secretary Doctor Baghdadi to the unlawful "government" currently in power in Libya.
Notwithstanding the absurd false charges against him, on leaving the hotel, the LTDH president Dr. Ben Moussa confirmed that in any event, an independent commission of Tunisian lawyers should first go to Libya to assess the "feasibility" of trial according to ethical standards guaranteeing fair safety of Dr. Al-Baghdadi and his entourage.
According to a Tunisian lawyer, the decision to send the Libyan People's Secretary back to Libya would come not as a claim of the "government" of the TNC / NATO, currently busy with the preparation of the masquerade of "elections" in Libya which they have had to postpone yet again, but as a result of negotiations "under the table" between Ennahda, the "Islamist" party in power in Tunisia, and the Islamist regime in Libya.
