The imperialist powers are eager to show the world the `legitimitate` Libyan government installed after over 7 months of NATO bombing...
The CNT/NATO and the imperialists are anxious. The next elections at the National General Congress (Al-Moutamar Al Watany Al-'Am), the new 'democratic parliament', supposed to 'replace' the General Congress of the People of Jamahiriya represented by Dr Baghdadi Mahmoudi [Ref. 1], will take place this month (June 2012). One must haste so that the world is 'reassured' to the 'legitimacy' of the government, installed by the fires of NATO after 7 months of bombing...
On “small children of Al-Mokthar” (“Ahfad Al-Mokthar”), one of the numerous TV-channels (on the pan-Arabic satellite Nilesat) installed by the CNT/NATO, one “spot” is actually broadcast several times a day. The technical and political norms correspond so vigorously with those in the west, that there is no doubt that this program has been conceived by a communication-agency in Paris, London or Washington. It puts in scene Amal and Adel, a couple of thoughtful students that stroll in the galleries of the university. In an utterly innocent way, they question themselves on the notions of “democracy”, “executive, legislative, judicial power”, “parties”, “parliament”, “civil society”, “constitution”, etc.
By a stroke of hazardous fortune, they encounter Dr Mohamed who offers them to sit down with him for a lecture on the “new democratic creed” in Libya. All works so wonderfully well and the actors openly express their ecstasy every time one of the here-above mentioned captions is spoken and explained by the professor... However, for the one who knows a little about the reality of Libya, the situation is rather bewildering and nearly a tragic-comedy.

The result of 7 months of bombing of Libya on the BBC, AL-Jazeera, Al-Arabiya, Tunisian National TV, the NATO and other “great media” (© Les Pacifistes de Tunis)
After the butchering by the imperialists of NATO (100 000 victims) through their agents of the CNT, behold the electoral circle... Indeed, the Libyans are the only people in the world to have experienced direct democracy in a very long time. If they complained about the derivatives (notably due to the introduction of reforms imposed by the unavoidable reconciliation with the imperial powers following the isolation due to numerous low punches by these last parties, starting with the economic embargo), the Libyans, in their immense majority, appreciated (and today regretted), their libertarian system of government [Ref. 2 to 5], theorised in 'The Green Book' [ Ref. 6 to 7].
Midst spectacular reversals possible at any moment in Libya (resistance) and in the Arab world in general (a really revolutionary spring that refuses the liquidation of the Palestinian issue), one can at least await a scenario resembling the one of the recent history of Nicaragua. In the 80's, the revolutionary government of those days (Sandinist, practising amongst others and as in the Jamahiriya, direct democracy) was violently attacked by the “Contras”, in other words the “contra-revolutionaries”, agents of the imperialistic US, equivalent to the militia of the Libyan CNT/NATO. By means of a long war, the “contras” had finally managed to impose another power (in stead of the guided march of the Sandinistas).

From left to right, the heroes of three great revolutions: Daniel Ortega (Nicaragua), Muammar al-Gaddafi (Libyan Jamahiriya), Fidel Castro (Cuba)
However, lately, the Sandinistas have regained power because they actually never disappeared from the heart of the great majority of the Nicaraguans. They overcame “by the electoral poles”, that is to say by the criteria imposed by imperialism [2]. So it would not be astonishing that the Jamahiriya would get reborn in the short or mid-long term through the “democratic process”, as it is currently installed by the transmission of imperialism that are “the great media”. The criminalisation of all public declarations of innumerable successes and advantages of the direct democracy of the Jamahiriya [2 and 3]- without speaking of the interdiction of all political parties accepting “the democratic game” whilst proposing a program inspired by Jamahiriya - constitute indicators of the anguish of imperialism.
(*) This is no joke. Omar Al-Mokhtar is in effect the historic hero of the liberation struggle of the Libyan people against the Italian colonialism in the beginning of last century. Equally to the Egyptian Nasser (of which statue in Benghazi has been taken down...), his worthy successor is Muammar Al-Gaddafi.

An extract from The Green Book
POPULAR CONFERENCES AND PEOPLE'S COMMITTEES
Popular Conferences are the only means to achieve popular democracy. Any system of government contrary to this method, the method of Popular Conferences, is undemocratic. All the prevailing systems of government in the world today will remain undemocratic, unless they adopt this method. Popular Conferences are the end of the journey of the masses in quest of democracy.
Popular Conferences and People's Committees are the fruition of the people's struggle for democracy. Popular Conferences and People's Committees are not creations of the imagination; they are the product of thought which has absorbed all human experiments to achieve democracy.
Direct democracy, if put into practice, is indisputably the ideal method of government. Because it is impossible to gather all people, however small the population, in one place so that they can discuss, discern and decide policies, nations departed from direct democracy, which became an utopian idea detached from reality. It was replaced by various theories of government, such as representative councils, party-coalitions and plebiscites, all of which isolated the masses and prevented them from managing their political affairs.
These instruments of government - the individual, the class, the sect, the tribe, the parliament and the party struggling to achieve power have plundered the sovereignty of the masses and monopolized politics and authority for themselves.
THE GREEN BOOK guides the masses to an unprecedented practical system of direct democracy. No two intelligent people can dispute the fact that direct democracy is the ideal, but until now no practical method for its implementation has been devised. The Third Universal Theory , however, now provides us with a practical approach to direct democracy. The problem of democracy in the world will finally be solved. All that is left before the masses now is the struggle to eliminate all prevailing forms of dictatorial governments, be they parliament, sect, tribe, class, one-party system, two-party system or multi-party system, which falsely call themselves democracies.
True democracy has but one method and one theory. The dissimilarity and diversity of the systems claiming to be democratic do, in fact, provide evidence that they are not so. Authority of the people has but one face which can only be realized through Popular Conferences and People's Committees. There can be no democracy without Popular Conferences and Committees everywhere.
First, the people are divided into Basic Popular Conferences. Each Basic Popular Conference chooses its secretariat. The secretariats of all Popular Conferences together form Non-Basic Popular Conferences. Subsequently, the masses of the Basic Popular Conferences select administrative People's Committees to replace government administration. All public institutions are run by People's Committees which will be accountable to the Basic Popular Conferences which dictate the policy and supervise its execution. Thus, both the administration and the supervision become the people's and the outdated definition of democracy - democracy is the supervision of the government by the people - becomes obsolete. It will be replaced by the true definition: Democracy is the supervision of the people by the people.
All citizens who are members of these Popular Conferences belong, vocationally and functionally, to various sectors and have, therefore, to form themselves into their own professional Popular Conferences in addition to being, by virtue of citizenship, members of the Basic Popular Conferences or People's Committees. Subjects dealt with by the Popular Conferences and People's Committees will eventually take their final shape in the General People's Congress, which brings together the Secretariats of the Popular Conferences and People's Committees. Resolutions of the General People's Congress, which meets annually or periodically, are passed on to the Popular Conferences and People's Committees, which undertake the execution of those resolutions through the responsible committees, which are, in turn, accountable to the Basic Popular Conferences.
The General People's Congress is not a gathering of persons or members such as those of parliaments but, rather, a gathering of the Popular Conferences and People's Committees.
Thus, the problem of the instrument of government is naturally solved, and all dictatorial instruments disappear. The people become the instrument of government, and the dilemma of democracy in the world is conclusively solved.

Greetings, thanks a lot for this translation. I have inserted the images and improved the English a bit, hopefully (main corrections were: Lybia => Libya; Jamahariya and other spellings => Jamahiriya), it will be good though if a native English speaking editor also takes a look at it.
Thank you Tsjerno and most welcome to MPB where your help is going to be much appreciated by our readers!
Good work on translation. Disappointing that this http://www.algeria-isp.com/actualites/politique-libye/201206-A10574/avocats-pacifistes-mobilises-tunis-pour-refuser-livraison-baghdady-premier-ministre-legal-grande-jamahiriya-libyenne-aux-merce.html was never posted to Mathaba by PdT, for whatever reason it got missed, perhaps they could not access this site at the time, and yet this is crucial, please be so kind to translate that article also to English and post it here.
An image is still missing, the one at the end of the original French item as now published on Mathaba.Net, hope I remember to include it if it is not added here. This item will go out in the next days, as it is not time critical. However, the http://www.algeria-isp.com/actualites/politique-libye/201206-A10574/avocats-pacifistes-mobilises-tunis-pour-refuser-livraison-baghdady-premier-ministre-legal-grande-jamahiriya-libyenne-aux-merce.html is urgent, if that could be translated to English it will be published Monday, insha Allah. If it is not in time for Monday then it won't be able to be published at Mathaba.Net as it is going to be surpassed by other news.
The image at the end is added, I forgot it at first, sorry.
Of course, by all means, let it be revised. I speak 5 languages but only one is my mother tongue, so... My spellingcheck doesn't get all faults! I posted a first draft and reposted it twice ; ) My wife is better in writing english but doesn't speak french. I'll take a little more time for the next article!
Tsjerno, please tell us more if possible about "transition town initiative" by placing a link on those words (if information exists on-line) because this is something practical and interesting, and exactly on the lines of some upcoming publications on Mathaba of similar initiatives. Also in your profile please change holesome to wholesome, thanks!

We now live in Sweden, comming from Belgium, and have bought a farm on 5 acre. Together with our neigbours we are putting up a transition initiative.
We visit each other to see how we take on things on our farmlands and in our gardens to reduce our oil-dependency and ecologic footprint. How we take on the idea of permaculture. We are also going to see the local council about putting up a service to car-pool as the public transportation is inadequate in our region. There are already several examples in Sweden. There are also associations to lay broadband internet via fiber. This lead us to see if we can put one up to instal a windmill wich is community owned. Here also, there are already some examples in Sweden. The idea of transition towns is to relocalise the economy, the food-production, go back to arts and crafts that are usefull for the economy and give it resilience to take on the pending energy-crisis, al the while strenghtening the communities ties.
Great! Can you write some article about this, along with links, and post here, we'll be happy to publish. Please see the one at Mathaba on Microtopia recently published too. Thank you!
